POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF STUDENT IN KALGO LGA




The Kebbi State Police Command is investigating the death of Zaharadden Nuhu, a 300-level student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK). The incident occurred in the early hours of 11th June 2026 within a private compound in Kalgo Local Government Area. The compound is predominantly occupied by students but is not a university-owned hostel facility.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was found with injuries and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, where he unfortunately passed away while receiving treatment. The assailant is yet to be identified.

Following the report, a team of police officers visited the scene, secured the area, and commenced investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and apprehend the person(s) responsible.

The Command urges members of the public, particularly residents of Kalgo LGA and students, to remain calm and avoid speculation. While the incident is regrettable, members of the public are encouraged to await the outcome of the investigation and avoid drawing conclusions that may create unnecessary tension or affect any group or community.
