More Than Charity: Sangdid Foundation’s “Week of Love” Boosts Community Wellness

The SANGDID Foundation, under the leadership of Barrister (Mrs.) Ndidiamaka Akpaumontia, has successfully concluded its impactful “Week of Love” outreach programme held from 1 to 7 March 2026, with the theme “Give to Gain.” The initiative, which reached hundreds of vulnerable individuals, underscored the foundation’s commitment to improving lives through intentional giving and community-focused interventions.

In line with the 2026 global theme, the foundation adopted a holistic approach by focusing on the total well-being of families, particularly widows, the aged, and children. Through strategic collaboration with churches and mosques, the outreach cut across religious and social boundaries, reinforcing unity and inclusiveness.

Beneficiaries received essential food items including rice, beans, millet, sorghum, yams, onions, and garri, ensuring both nutritional support and emotional relief.

A major highlight of the programme was the provision of free medical services at the TA Lagbaja Cantonment, where hundreds of individuals benefited from screenings for blood pressure, malaria, typhoid, and hepatitis. The Free Eye Clinic also recorded significant impact, as many beneficiaries received medications and corrective glasses, restoring their vision and improving their quality of life.

Speaking on the initiative, the founder, Barrister Akpaumontia, emphasized that the essence of the programme lies in the belief that giving strengthens society. She noted that by extending support to the most vulnerable, the foundation is investing in a healthier, more stable, and united community. According to her, “an open hand is never empty,” as acts of kindness create lasting positive change.

The “Week of Love” initiative has once again demonstrated that purposeful giving is a powerful tool for societal transformation. By addressing both immediate needs and long-term well-being, the SANGDID Foundation continues to set a commendable example of compassion, service, and community development.
