BIRNIN KEBBI, NIGERIA – February 5, 2026 – The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on violent crime. During a high-stakes encounter in the Bagudo Local Government Area, operatives successfully neutralized a suspected armed bandit and recovered a substantial quantity of live ammunition.
The Incident
On February 4, 2026, at approximately 9:00 PM, officers of the Police Special Tactical Squad were conducting a routine patrol when they intercepted two suspects on an unregistered Boxer motorcycle. When the operatives attempted a security check, the suspects immediately opened fire. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, police neutralized one suspect, while the second fled the scene with gunshot wounds.

- 3 AK-47 magazines
- One camouflage uniform and one military-style bag
- Two mobile phones
- ₦404,500 in cash
- One unregistered Boxer motorcycle

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadeija, psc, MNIM, praised the bravery of the tactical team and reaffirmed the Command's dedication to eradicating banditry. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to the nearest police station.
