Abuja, Nigeria — The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, MFR, mni, led an inspection visit to the Millennium Tower, Nigerian Cultural Centre and National Square in Abuja as part of the Ministry’s ongoing administrative and technical engagements to support the development of Nigeria’s cultural and creative infrastructure.
The visit brought together relevant government stakeholders and private sector representatives, including the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed, Dr. Kabir Ali Masanawa, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Katsina State History and Culture Bureau and Head of the Explore Katsina initiative, as well as Dr. Sam Agbi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria China Business Council, alongside prospective investors. The engagement provided an opportunity for on-site inspection and open discussions on the future potential of the facilities.
During the inspection, attention was given to the Millennium Tower and its surrounding cultural assets, which are designed to serve as important national landmarks within the Federal Capital Territory. When fully realised, the Millennium Tower, Nigerian Cultural Centre and National Square are expected to provide spaces for cultural expression, national gatherings, tourism activities and creative enterprise, while contributing to economic growth and national identity.
In his remarks, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad noted that the inspection reflects the role of the civil service in facilitating coordination, providing technical oversight, and supporting policy implementation in line with government objectives. He emphasized that these efforts are aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritizes sustainable development, cultural preservation, and economic growth through the creative and tourism sectors. He also highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration among government institutions, legislative stakeholders, and private sector partners to ensure that national cultural assets are developed in a manner that delivers long-term value to Nigerians.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment by stakeholders to continue constructive engagement aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s art, culture, tourism and creative economy sectors through responsible development and partnership.
